👱 Donald Trump Proposes Executive Order for AI.

Donald Trump’s AI Proposal

Trump proposes to boot the door open on AI advancement within the United States, "Make America First in AI."

The proposal of this order represents a pivoting point for U.S. AI policies, surging a competitive stance against global rivals and promoting rapid technological development.

These changes could lead to increased military capabilities and a robust ecosystem for innovation or something else...

  • Military Focus: The draft order proposes a series of ambitious projects akin to the historical Manhattan Project aiming to advance military tech.

  • Regulatory Changes: The order seeks to ease restrictions perceived as hindering AI development. This contrasts sharply with the Biden administration's approach to AI, emphasizing safety testing and regulatory oversight for advanced AI systems.

  • Political Context: The proposed order is part of a broader Republican strategy to overturn regulations established under the Biden administration. The Biden administration views are perceived as a hindrance and obstructive to AI innovation. The GOP's platform emphasizes free speech and human advancement in technology.

  • Support from Tech Leaders: The initiative gains backing from notable figures in the tech industry shifting their political support towards Trump, thus creating a potential realignment in the political landscape of Silicon Valley, where previously dominant Democratic support is giving way to Republican advocacy for less regulation in AI.

The Motive

Should this new paradigm shift come with a parental advisory sticker attached? Typically, the advancement of AI comes with caution and regulatory conversation.

It was not too long ago that Elon Musk stated, "AI is far more dangerous than nukes," and now Trump wants the floodgates open.

📰OpenAI in talks with Broadcom

OpenAI & Broadcom

🤝 OpenAI and Broadcom are reportedly in discussions to develop custom AI chips. These talks are part of OpenAI's efforts to secure the necessary computing power for its AI model and get its fingers into chip development. Full article on reuters.com, follow link here.

  • Future Moves: Major tech companies, including Microsoft, Amazon, and Google, are increasing their investment positions in custom chip designs to meet their specific AI computing needs.

  • Room for Competition: Nvidia's chips are currently in high demand, and tech companies have to wait in line, thus causing a backlog of progression.

  • Specialization: OpenAI's interest in custom chips aligns with industry trends and reflects the growing importance of specialized hardware in AI development.

  • Current Situation: This partnership is currently in talks with no confirmation on a decision. If the two do reach a deal, it could be years before we see any chips from Broadcom.

The Motive:

It's quite simple. Nvidia has reigned supreme when it comes to making the hardware for AI, and it will keep its position in the near future, but things might be beginning to change. Massive corps see a future worth taking their first steps to break their Nvidia chains.
