🔎 OpenAI brings SearchGPT out of Testing. How good is it?

 🖥️ OpenAI has unveiled SearchGPT, an AI-driven search engine integrated into ChatGPT, aiming to revolutionize the search experience by delivering real-time, conversational responses.

Our take: I enjoy using it all the time alongside Perplexity. I research a ton and need to sift through large quantities of information. SearchGPT does a great job of producing the exact answers with sources for follow-up.

Summary:

• Conversational Interface: SearchGPT allows users to ask questions in natural language and engage in follow-up queries, fostering a more intuitive search process.

• Real-Time Information Access: Utilizing retrieval-augmented generation (RAG), it provides up-to-date information on various topics, such as sports scores, news, weather, and stock market data.

Pros:

• Direct and concise information about your search queries and provides sources.

• Supports a follow-up conversational approach to gather information, enabling deeper insights without sifting through irrelevant information.

Cons:

• AI systems suffer from hallucinations. Although RAG systems provide reliable information, source checking is necessary.

• AI systems are trained on internet material, which can be unreliable and biased.

The Motive:

Many have stated that SearchGPT is taking on Google, but I see it as a competitor to Perplexity. I use both tools daily, and SearchGPT does an excellent job sourcing information compared to the competition.

SearchGPT will definitely divert traffic from the typical Google Search users, but people need time to adjust.

This feature is initially available to paid subscribers and wait-listed users, with plans to expand access to free and enterprise users in the coming weeks.

🎦 How Cool are Amazon Prime’s X-ray AI features?

 🎦 Amazon Prime Video has recently introduced an innovative AI-powered feature called X-Ray Recaps. The new tool utilizes artificial intelligence to enhance the viewing experience for Prime Video users.

The model uses Amazon Bedrock and Amazon SageMaker, analyzing video, subtitles, and dialogue to describe key events, conversations, and other information.

• AI-Generated Recaps: The feature provides brief overviews of video content without revealing spoilers, enhancing engagement while preserving the viewing experience.

• Dive Deeper: X-Ray offers detailed information about the cast, soundtrack, and production details, allowing viewers to delve deeper into the content they are watching.

How to find it?

1. Move your cursor, tap the screen, and/or pause the series to reveal on-screen X-Ray controls.

2. The on-screen Quickview mode disappears after a few moments. To access X-Ray information again, tap, click, or move your cursor.

3. Click or tap “X-Ray View All” at the top-left corner of the screen to enter the full-screen X-Ray interface.

The Motive:

Amazon X-Ray provides some cool features to make content more accessible and engaging, offering viewers personalized insights and summaries to enhance their streaming experience.

It also provides an opportunity for viewers to explore behind-the-scenes footage and production facts for select movies and series.

Currently in beta, X-Ray Recaps came available to Fire TV customers in the U.S. on November 4th, with support for additional devices expected by the end of the year.

The Motive:

Every other company is doing AI, so why not Zoom? The big question remains, do Zoom users need this and will they pay the extra costs?

The ability for an AI to transcribe and summarize my online meetings is a huge benefit, but beyond that, I stretch to find reasons for much else, and I tend to keep some accounts separate from AI integration.

There is mounting pressure for tech companies to adopt AI, no matter what, or feel the risk of falling behind.
