📰 Did Toys R Us set a new AI standard?

Toys R Us just released the first ever 100% AI video-generated commercial using OpenAI's Sora.
Are they pioneers in the future of video marketing, or just another corporation finding new ways to save money?

The commercial is based on the founder of Toys R Us, Charles Lazarus, envisioning the toy giant as a young child in his father's bike shop. However, well you might just have to see for yourself.

What’s the big deal?

• There are no actors, cameramen, directors, and all the other staff required to make a commercial. This is the first ever text-to-video commercial created.

• Multiple issues arise throughout the ad. For instance, the boy's facial appearance changes multiple times, the bridge on his glasses changes, and some of the animals and toys in the video come off a little morphed. Plus, the cinematic lighting gives an eerie feel.

• Text-to-video prompt creation is still in its early stages, but this could be the kick-off to a major change.
